empowering creativity in schools everywhere.
With a Masters in Teaching Visual Art and a Bachelor of Architecture, I bring a unique perspective to the field of art and design education training, development and consulting. My overarching goal is to nourish the educator, giving them permission to alter their own education mindset. It is by changing this mindset and developing an education philosophy that places creativity at its core that I can truly revolutionize attitudes toward curriculum planning, teacher training, and the classroom environment.
offering expertise in creative experiences that open up new possibilities for teachers and schools everywhere.
I help teachers develop an education philosophy that places creativity at its core. My approach to professional development goes well beyond suggesting creative exercises. I efficiently and effectively guide teachers through the process of integrating art and design into curriculum through hands-on experiences through my Innovation Hour™ program. Participants develop new tools for their repertoire, gain a foundation in the principles of design thinking, and engage their own creative voices. I work with individuals / entire teaching teams / schools in professional development workshops focused on learning about creative tools that can be woven into classrooms and across grade levels.
Consult with me directly in person or via video conference. Talk about your classroom space design, meet as a teaching team to brainstorm, or do more hands on development with art and design tools and techniques.
curriculum consulting and development.
offering unique art and design education curriculum development and advising for organizations and companies.
My approach to curriculum consultancy is to match a thorough assessment of the required educational objective with a detailed action plan and the tools and materials to formulate sustainable success. I currently serves as Visual Art Advisor for the PBS Pinkalicious series; contributing curriculum, editing scripts and steering the Visual Art education component of the series for shows, games and beyond. The series began airing in February 2018 and my role has since been expanded outside of Pinkalicious into PBS’ Online Learning platform and the overall PBS Curriculum Framework for integrating art into core subjects and learning modules for all PBS shows.
I am available to advise companies and organizations working with and in any type of visual art and design education projects. Cost is dependent upon scope of the project(s).
residencies for all.
offering customized experiences that honor and share the story of every participant.
Sometimes commissions go beyond a singular work and become collaborations with groups of people: a classroom of kids or an entire school. I create customized residencies with schools and organizations of any size.
I have worked with all ages, grades and group sizes - from preschool through college level - on projects ranging in a diversity of subjects and themes. I can connect with the state and national standards, weave into current classroom conversations, and help create space for witnessing every participants voice…all through my create + connect process.
I am available locally here in Asheville and am a part of the TAPAS program through the Asheville City Schools Foundation. I also love traveling to other cities to create! Cost is dependent upon the scope of the project(s) and number of students involved.
